Minimum Qualification for admission to Chittagong University
Eligibility for admission under ‘A’ Unit is:
All Departments / Institutes of Science / Biology / Engineering / Marine Sciences and Fisheries Faculty are under this unit.
• Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Science or Agricultural Science in Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examination with minimum total GPA of 8.00 including the 4th subject in both the exams; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 4.00 separately
Eligibility for admission under ‘B’ unit and B1 sub-unit is:
All Departments /Institutes (excluding Department of Drama, Institute of Fine Arts and Department of Music) of Arts and Anthropology Faculty
B1 Sub-Unit: Department of Drama, Institute of Fine Arts and Music Department of Arts Faculty
• Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent in Science / Agricultural Science with minimum total GPA of 8.00 including 4th subject in both the exams; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.50 separately;
Or, Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Humanities General (Madrasa Education Board) / Music / Domestic Economics Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examination with minimum total GPA of 7.50 including 4th subject; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.00 separately;
Or, Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Business Education Business Management / Equivalent Branch Higher Secondary or Alim or Equivalent Examination with minimum total GPA of 8.00 including 4th subject; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.50 separately
Eligibility for admission under ‘C’ Unit is:
All Departments of Faculty of Business Administration are under this unit.
• Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and both higher secondary or Alim or equivalent in business education with minimum GPA of 8.00 including 4th subject; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.50
Or, Passed in Secondary or equivalent examination and Diploma-In-Commerce / Diploma-in-Business Studies / Diploma-in-Business Management with Accounting / Higher Accounting with minimum GPA of 8.00 including 4th subject. However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.50 separately.
Eligibility for admission under ‘D’ Unit is:
All Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law Departments of the Faculty of Law, All Departments of the Faculty of Business Administration and Departments of Geography and Ecology and Psychology of the Faculty of Biology are under this unit.
• Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examination in any branch with a minimum total GPA of 7.50 including 4th subject; However, if they get a minimum GPA of 3.50 in both the exams separately, they will be considered eligible to participate in the D unit admission test. However, the minimum qualifications based on the faculty mentioned below will also apply:
i) Passed in Secondary or Submission or Equivalent Examination and Science Agricultural Science / Humanities or Music or General (Madrasa Education Board) / Business Education Business Management / Home Economics Branch and Higher Secondary or Alim or both examinations with minimum total GPA of 7.50 including 4th subject; However, the GPA of both the exams must be 3.50 separately. They will be considered eligible to participate in the admission test in all the departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
ii) Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent in any branch with minimum total GPA of 8.50 including 4th subject; However, minimum GPA must be 4.00 in both the exams separately. They will be considered eligible to participate in the admission test in the Law department of the Law faculty.
iii) Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and regular Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examination in Science / Agricultural Science / Humanities or Music or General (Madrasa Education Board) branch with minimum total GPA of 8.00 including 4th subject; However, in both the exams, the minimum GPA must be 3.50 separately (Applicants who have passed Science must have Mathematics at Higher Secondary level and Applicants who have passed Humanities must have Economics at Higher Secondary level) Or Diploma in Commerce / Diploma in Business Studies / Diploma in Business Management in both secondary or submission or equivalent examinations and with a minimum total GPA of 6.00 including 4th subject in both examinations; However, minimum GPA must be 3.50 in both the exams separately. They will be considered eligible to participate in the admission test in all the departments (for science and humanities group seats) in the Faculty of Business Administration.
iv) Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examinations and regular Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examinations in Humanities or Music or General (Madrasa Education BOard) branch with minimum total GPA of 7.50 including 4th subject; However, minimum GPA must be 3.50 in both the exams separately. They will be considered eligible to participate in the admission test in the Department of Geology and Ecology and Psychology (for Humanities) in the Faculty of Biology.
Eligibility for admission under D1 Sub-Unit is:
Physical Education and Sports Science of Education Institute in under this unit.
• Passed in Secondary or Dakhil or equivalent examination and regular Higher Secondary or Alim or equivalent examination in any branch with a minimum total GPA of 6.00 including 4th subject; However, minimum GPA must be 2.50 in both the exams separately. They will be considered eligible to participate in the admission test in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the Education Institute.
Chittagong University Admission Test Procedure:
❏ Admission test 100 marks and GPA mark 20
(SSC 8 + HSC 12, both with 4th subject)
• Negative marking will be counted, 0.25 will be deducted for each error
• Time: 1 hour
• Calculator can be used.

30, Field Test-20, Certificate-10 marks will be allotted there.
Selection Process:
• If you want to read Law your required marks is 10 in Bengali,15 in English and 7 in analysis skills, 8 in Economics / General Knowledge and mathematics.
• If you want to read in Physical Education and Sports Science your required marks is 6 in Bengali, 6 in English, 5 in Analytical Skills, 8 in Economics / General Knowledge / Mathematics, 12 in Field test and 2 in the certificate.
• For all other subjects 6 in Bengali, 6 in English, 8 in analysis skills and 8 in Economics / General Knowledge / Mathematics.
