Vacancy at "Shushilan" 

Shushilan a national NGO of Bangladesh is working together with DPHE and SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) to recruit and contract qualified staff for the newly established Faecal Sludge Laboratory (FSL) of DPHE in Cox's Bazar. The FSL has been developed to test effluent from wastewater (sewage / faucal sludge) treatment units in Cox's Bazar district in order to improve treatment processes and ensure that the units produce effluent that adheres to Bangladeshi standards for sewage discharge. Shushilan is hereby inviting applications from qualified persons for the mentioned positions (6 positions in total): 

Name of position:  Laboratory Manager

Number of post: one (1) 

Salary: Monthly Salary BDT 60,000.00 to 80,000.00 

Mission:

To manage the procedure for analyzing wastewater samples at the DPHE FSL and collate and report test results. Responsible for the overall management and operation of the laboratory. 

Requirements:

Master's degree in Chemistry/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Environmental Science/ any other relevant discipline from Public/National University. At least 5 years working experience as chemist is preferable in any laboratory environment. Previous experience in environmental/water laboratories or wastewater laboratories is highly welcomed. Strong interpersonal skills, well-developed written and oral communications skills in English and Bengali, IT literate with strong MS Office skills. 

Name of position: Laboratory Technicians

Number of post: two (2)

Salary: Monthly Salary BDT 45,000.00 to 60,000.00

Mission:

To analyses samples of wastewater at the DPHE FSL and to collate and report test results. Requirements: Bachelor or (preferably) Honors degree in Chemistry/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ any other relevant discipline from Public/National University. At least 2 years relevant working experience. Previous experience in environmental/ wastewater laboratories is highly welcomed. Strong interpersonal skills, well-developed written and oral communications skills in English and Bengali, IT literate with strong MS Office skills.

Name of position: Sample Collectors

Number of post: Three (3)

Salary: Monthly Salary BDT 36,000.00 to 45,000.00

Mission: 

To collect samples of wastewater in Cox's Bazar district as directed by the Laboratory Manager and deliver them to the FSL. Requirements: Secondary or Higher Secondary Certificate in Science, or preferable a Bachelor Degree. At least 2 years relevant working experience. Previous experience in sampling in environmental/ wastewater laboratories highly welcomed. Strong interpersonal skills, well-developed written and oral communication\skills in English and Bengali, IT literate with strong MS Office skills.
