The Bangladesh Open University (BOU) is a public university with its main campus in Gazipur, Dhaka. It is the 7th largest university in the world according to enrolment. The university was established on 21 October 1992. 1. In any subject, at least one first class at the postgraduate or undergraduate level, there should be two first division classes in the entire academic life and 3 out of 4 in GPA / CGPA system.
2. Or three years undergraduate honors with 50% marks (3 out of 4 in GPA / CGPA system) and one year postgraduate degree and at least 2nd class at secondary and higher secondary level or 4 out of 5 in GPA
3. Or three years of work experience in a corner education or research institution, including a postgraduate degree. There should be a single publication in a standard journal and at least 2 out of 4 or 4 out of 5 in GPA / CGPA system at all stages of educational life.

Candidates with honors degree in the relevant subject from any public university or recognized foreign university should have any of the following qualifications:
1. M.Phil / MS / Masters degree or equivalent from a foreign university and at least 2nd class having 50% marks or 3 out of 4 in GPA / CGPA system or equivalent degree. Besides, in secondary and higher secondary examinations, 4 out of 5 should be in GPA or second division.
2. A single publication in a quality journal with two years of teaching experience in Bangladesh Open University.
3. Honors and postgraduate degree with three years teaching experience in any public university in Bangladesh. Must have at least 50% marks in that level or 3 out of 4 in GPA / CGPA system and 3 out of 2 in secondary and higher secondary level / or GPA 5. In addition, two single publications in recognized journals.
4. 5 years teaching experience of college teachers affiliated to national universities including 4 years undergraduate and postgraduate degree having 50% marks with 2nd class or 3 out of 4 or equivalent degree in GPA / CGPA system and 4 out of 2nd class / or GPA 5 in secondary and higher secondary examinations. 2 single publications in recognized journals.
5. Teacher / Medical College Researcher must have FCPS / MD / M.Phil /MS. or 2 years teaching / research experience from a public university affiliated institute. 2 single publications in recognized journals.
6. In the case of research officers, foreign second post graduate degree or M.Phil degree with 5 years research experience in co-research institutes / institutes / institutions. 2 single publications in recognized journals and must have 50% marks in 2nd class or 3 out of 4 or equivalent degree in GPA / CGPA system and 2nd class in secondary and higher secondary examinations and 4 out of 5 in GPA.
7. In case of BOU officers, at least five years of service experience on the date of application for admission and the educational qualifications mentioned in 4 mentioned above along with a single publication in a recognized journal.
