University of Dhaka is one of the oldest public universities in Bangladesh. The university was established on July 1, 1921. It has made significant contributions to the modern history of Bangladesh. It is also the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 37,018 and a faculty of 1,992. It was identified as one of the top 100 universities in Asia by “Asia Week”.

The university is inviting applications from the candidates for the admission on Bachelor (Honors) on different 5 units.

Course Title: Bachelor (Honors)

Admission qualification: 

A unit:

Students of Science and Agriculture can apply on Science, Biology, Pharmacy, Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty of Engineering and Technology and related institutes.

Candidates who have passed Alim and IGCSE / O Level and IAL / GCE A Level examinations in Science and Agricultural Science Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board Science must have a total GPA of 8.5 (including 4th subject) where Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations a minimum GPA of 3.5 to apply for admission.

All the departments / institutes under which one can apply for admission under this unit will be mentioned in detail in the admission guideline of the unit given on the website.

B unit:

Humanities students and those who have at least 2 humanities subjects in IGCSE / O Level and IAL / GCE A Level or equivalent examination can apply. 

Students who have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in the humanities branch will not be able to get admission in the department of this unit through D-Unit (Transfer Unit).

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary in Humanities and Madrasa Education Board Humanities Alim examinations must have a total GPA of 8.0 (including 4th subject) where secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent examinations separately with a minimum GPA of 3.00 to apply for admission.

C unit: 

Business Education and students who have passed IGCSE/ O Level and IAL / GCE A Level or equivalent examination can apply.

Candidates belonging to C-Unit can be admitted only in the seats of the departments affiliated to the Faculty of Business Studies. There will be no opportunity for admission in their A, B and D units through examination of ‘C’ unit. However, the candidates admitted in the departments of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will have to take the admission test through D-Unit.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary, Diploma-in-Commerce and Business Management examinations in Business Education must have a total GPA of 7.0 (Secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent examinations separately 3.5) can apply for admission. Candidates from Diploma-In-Commerce and Business Management branches at higher secondary level must have accounting subject and must have a minimum B-grade (grade-point 3.0) in that subject.

D unit (Transfer Unit):

Humanities / Science / Business Education / IGCSE / O Level and IAL / GCE A Level or equivalent branch student can apply.

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary in Humanities and Madrasa Education Board Humanities Alim examinations must have a total GPA of 8.0 (including 4th subject) where secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent examinations separately with a minimum GPA of 3.00 to apply for admission.

Candidates from Science, Agricultural Science, Home Economics and Science Branch of Madrasa Education Board who have obtained GPA in Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations (including 4th subject) have a total GPA of at least 7.5 where Secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent examinations separately must have a minimum GPA of 3.5) to apply for admission.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary, Diploma-in-Commerce and Business Management examinations in Business Education must have a total GPA of 7.0 (Secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent examinations separately 3.5) can apply for admission. 

E unit:

Candidates who have passed any branch of Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination must have a total GPA of 7.0 (Secondary / Equivalent and Higher Secondary / Equivalent Examination must have separately a minimum GPA of 3.0) to apply for admission.

General rules (Applicable to all units):

The conditions for obtaining minimum grade / grade points in Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations and the departmental conditions will be detailed in the admission guide given on the website.

IGCSE / O Level and IAL / GCE A Level candidate, students who have passed at least 5 subjects in IGCSE / O Level examination from 2015 to 2016 and at least 2 subjects in IAL / GCE A Level examination published in 2020 will be eligible for admission. They must have IGCSE / 0 Level and IAL / CCE A Level at least B-grade in 4 subjects and at least C-grade in 3 subjects respectively out of 6 subjects.

Candidates with equivalent foreign certificate / diploma can also apply for a subject with the permission of the concerned unit head. However, they will be able to participate in the admission test only if the equality is determined by the concerned faculty. In addition, all the candidates have to fulfill other conditions prescribed by the concerned unit.
