Project Management Competencies for Professionals (PMC) a six-week course by IBA, University of Dhaka 

Background 

For more than fifty years, IBA has been defining and leading the professional landscape of Bangladesh with its pioneering degree programs and cutting-edge executive development courses. With phenomenal increase of the country's investment in development programs, along with robust growth in the per capita income and healthy social indicators, Bangladesh is poised to take-off to a new horizon. This development is a result of combined efforts of three sectors — government, business and development. To further accelerate this growth and development, the country needs a large pool of trained project management professionals to lead and manage projects across these domains. This course on Project Management is a step towards creating an outstanding cohort of professionals who work in government agencies, development organizations and private sector businesses. 

Course Overview:

The course is designed to provide the participants with an understanding of essential concepts, tools and techniques of project management. The course discusses, among other things, issues such as project prioritization and selection, project scope, time and budget management, project activity mapping and scheduling, project risk management, and project monitoring and evaluation. The course is built around lectures, exercises, group discussions and presentations. 

Who is it for? 

Professionals who are (or aspire to take up roles as) team leader, project director, project manager, technical lead, procurement specialist, M&E specialist, etc. 

Government officials involved (or expect to be involved) in leading or managing projects in different ministries and agencies 

Business professionals responsible for designing and implementing new investment projects and running operational projects such as infrastructure development, marketing campaign, etc. 

Development professionals involved (or want to be involved) in project in different roles 

Eligibility 

Bachelor's degree in any discipline 

Two years of experience, preferably with exposure to project situations. (In exceptional cases, experience requirement may be relaxed.) 

Class Schedule 

Classes will be held online on six (6) weekends (Fridays and Saturdays), 3 hours per day. The classes will start on 09 July 2021. 

Application Deadline & Admission 

Interested eligible candidates should apply using the prescribed application form available at www.iba-du.edu. Completed applications are to be emailed to MDP@iba-du.edu, with "Project Management" in the subject line on or before Wednesday, 30 June, MarAZI5iMi However, due to limited number of seats, admission of the selected candidates will be processed on 'first-come-first-served' basis. For final selection, candidates will be invited to appear before an online interview board on a rolling basis. 

Course Fee 

The course fee is BDT 28,500.00 only. The amount needs to be paid by bank draft drawn in favor of "MDP, IBA, DU" 

Certification 

On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded a certificate issued by IBA, University of Dhaka. A minimum of 70% class attendance is mandatory for receiving the certificate. 

Key Resource Persons 

The resource persons for the program include faculty members from IBA, University of Dhaka. In addition, leading practitioners from the field will also conduct sessions. The course is moderated by Prof. Sheikh Morshed Jahan, IBA, and University of Dhaka.
